Bremelanotide · melanocortin-receptor research peptide
A cyclic heptapeptide melanocortin receptor agonist. Originally developed from melanotan-II, PT-141 is the active research analog approved in some jurisdictions for hypoactive sexual desire disorder under the name bremelanotide.
PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a cyclic melanocortin-receptor agonist and a worked example of a research peptide that progressed through Phase-3 trials to FDA approval.
PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide that activates melanocortin receptors MC3R and MC4R. Research and Phase-3 clinical data led to its 2019 FDA approval (under the trade name Vyleesi) for premenopausal hypoactive sexual desire disorder.
